Quick look back

justin | 07 December, 2008 10:58

Hey Folks,

I just thought that I would take a look back on this year before the new beginning enters. This year has given the chance to learn more about myself and get that much closer to my dreams of being in the music business and modeling business, as well as a few personal dreams.

In this past year I have had the chance to work with talented photographers and have the work that I have done with them being featured on their websites, as well as their portfolios. I have even begun to build a relationship with On Display Men Agency that we will have to see where it all end up lead my career.

That is all that I have right now. I will continue updating you with what all is going on in my life.

Take care.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A little update...

justin | 15 November, 2008 10:17

Hey Folks!

Thought that I would take a bit of time to let you know what is going on with me.

At the moment, I am looking at another job, which has been a little difficult because you feel like you're filling out all these application and you'll never get an interview with someone. So I hope that this week I will hear back from someone, until then I'll continue working at my current job.

I am starting to write lyrics again, where it I am writing about the of the past that are not effecting me as much and things that are presently happening in my life.

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend the fundraising benifit of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville. They had various things that were put up for the silent audition, where it was to help raise money for the charity.

That's it for now. Just seems that this time of year things are going a little slow with photo shoots that I am focusing on going to visit my family in about a month that I have not seen since moving to Nashville earlier this year.

I will keep you updated about the little on goings of my life.

 Take care.

President - Elect Barack Obama November 4, 2008 Speech

justin | 05 November, 2008 10:57

Last night, we as a nation saw history unfold. Yes, we did see a bi-racial man being elected to being the next President of the United States, where this is something that many thought would never happen and it did. The way that I see it is that it does not matter what race he is, it is whether or not he is able to do the job as the President of the United States. We should not see him for the color of his skin, but as the man that is ready and willing to be the President of our nation.

I do realize that Obama and his wife, Michelle will be role model for the black community, but they will also be for the rest of our nation. I know that I am part of a race that has not really seen bad time or seen real struggles, but I am grateful that I grew up in a time where it is the character of a person rather than the color of their skin. At least that is my hope. One thing that I do know is that we have seen a nation that has looked at the character rather than the color of skin, to elect an amazing man such as, Obama.

On March 18 of this year, Obama said: "I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton's Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas. I've gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world's poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners - an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible." Yes, we live in an amazing country that something Obama's story is possible.

Something or rather someone that come to mind is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, whom I have always looked up to as a man that never gave up. I wonder if  Dr. King ever thought that something like what we as a nation saw last night could have ever happened. Just as we saw Rev. Jesse James in tears last night because great history was unfolding. Perhaps, we are finally in a nation that is more focused on whether or not someone is able to do a job and the color of their skin is that the last thought that enters into someone's mind. With that I have to just simply say, Amen.

Just like many of you, I watching the speeches on television and while watching I heard an amazing speech from our future President Barack Obama.

I had tried to place the video on the full speech, but was not able to get it to show up in my blog.

Thanks for reading.

Story behind the poem "Circle On The Stage"...

justin | 03 November, 2008 21:46

Hey Folks,

I thought that I would give the chance to tell you a little bit about the writing that I have in the selection that I have to display things that I have written. I am always writing and I can't share everything that I write, nor am I ready for some of my writing to be shared with a lot of people. Sure, my blog entries and photos give to chance to learn a little bit about me, but the writing that I have whether they are lyrics or just something I have written to get the things that I have running through down on a blank page. It is through my writing thatyou get to know about my experiences, where they are my joys or my heartaches, they give the reader a chance to get to know me as a person.

The poem that I have in my writing selection of the website, is letting you know a little bit about something that I had experienced or should I say one event in particular.

"Circle On The Stage" Where’s my life to go / Because right now I don’t know / Just when I think I’m one step ahead / It seems to be another person’s opportunity instead / I wonder if all my childhood dreams / Will ever step into reality / The place where there’s a circle on the stage /  The circle I’ve longed to touch from a young age / I had the chance to see that dream become a reality / Seeing the circle for a moment took the breath away from me / I was asked to sing and on the circle I stood / Calmed my nerves as best I could / From my mouth were the words of "Amazing Grace" / I began to see face after face / Of the people I wanted have there with me / To see one of my dreams had become a reality / I wonder if I’ll be a part of history / And the next time I stand on that circle, will there be an audience before me / I went from being just a boy with a pocket full of dreams / To a man that longs for those dreams to unfold into reality / We will all have to wait and see / If the list of dreams could ever come to be

The poem "Circle On The Stage" was written just a few day after I had the chance to stand on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. I believe that I will always remember that experience for the rest of my life, even if I never have the chance to preform at the Grand Ole Opry. Words can not really describe what it is like to walk onto the stage and have the chance to stand on the circle, which all the Country music greats had stood. I don't know if I'll ever have the chance to have my name spoken in the same breath as the names of artists that I have listened to all my life. You never know. So, I'm continue to work at it and never stop dreaming.

Take it easy.

Insight to what's going on...

justin | 01 November, 2008 20:41

Hey Folks,

For those of you that have follow my blogs, website and other places where I am on the internet will know that I am a musician. Being a musician is something that I have done for most of my life and it's weird to think that I have had a passion for music since I was 3 years old. Where everythingstarted with a simple song that everyone that grow up in church, learns in Sunday School as a child, would get me to where I am today.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I am always writing and I am always have a pen with paper with me most of the time. Lately I have been writing a lot about what it is that I have been going through in the past year and things that I have experienced at different point in my life. I know that you hear that everyone person that want to be a songwriter writes from their life experiences. It is easy for me to write everything on paper, but to put it out there for everyone to read and possibly one day hear set to music, it's difficult. But, it is through my writing that I am able to reflect on the situation and move on.

The reason that I mention my writing to you is that there is something that I have an opportunity, or more like a connection where I will be able to get somewhere in the music industry. I know that it will take some time to finally get somewhere, but it's worth the try.

Recently I have a few people mention to me that when they look at my modeling photos that I draw that viewer in and content with them on an emotional level. The reason that I say this is that throughout my pursuit of modeling, I have tried to do things in modeling to change my image of "the all-american, boy next-door," but have been unable to shake it. I had tried posing in underwear, but it caused the people that got me feedback to see me as the boy next-door. Over time I have gone with the image that I have and have tried my best to use it to my advantage.

I was talking to a friend on mine about different models and why they felt I was not about to give off the same image that the other models were able to. They told me that other models were about to be sexy by just selling sex through their expression and their body language. But, when it come to me, I am able to be confident in my skin and give the expressions through my eyes along with other things, while continuing to be myself. That is what people might find sexy with they look at a photo of me.

I have tried to get people to see my personality and a bit of my story through looking at a photo, I believe that I have been able to do that. I am always working on getting better when it come to modeling, just as how I have slowly gotten better with my writing.

Keep your eyes and ears open because you just might be able to see my dreams unfold. I hope to be able to give you the chance to hear my music soon, because you have already gotten the chance to get to know a little bit about me through photos.

Take care and have a good rest of the weekend.

Working with Barry A. Noland Photography...

justin | 31 October, 2008 07:48

Hey Folks,

Almost a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of working with the talent photographer, Barry A. Noland. In the photo shoot we did commerical looks, where I was mostly wearing jeans and t-shirts. We had planned to do underwear shots, which we didn't get to. I agreed to do the image, but I was not fully prepared for those type of images. I had received the first batch of photos from Barry this morning and thought that I would share one of the photos with you via of a blog. I enjoyed working with Barry and I hope to have the opportunity to possibly work with him again in the future.

Thinking about this year...

justin | 28 October, 2008 11:07

Hey Folks!

I began to think about all that has happened in my life in 2008 and thought about things that might stick out when I think about this year in the future. The first thing that comes to mind in that I moved to Nashville to begin chasing after a long list of dreams that I have had for most of my life. I began find a little bit a light in the modeling world, where I was featured a handful of times on a blogazine, I have done a few promotional events for different companies and got the chance to work with various photographers. I know that there are still a few months to this years, but I am looking forward to anything that might have in the future.

Thanks so much.
